What it's like
Two sets of fifteen slats. The fixed ones form the bench and half the bed; the moving ones sit right under each fixed slat and slide out through closed slots in two rails, guided and unable to lift. Pull the bar and the bed goes from 735 to 1180 mm deep, with its legs on the floor. Everything is 15 mm plywood, screws and felt: no metal slides to buy or to jam with sand. Open storage underneath. Sheet 2 comes in two versions: with the wheel-arch cut-out of the Sprinter 906, measured on a real van, and a universal one without cut-out for when the bed sits above the arch or the van is different.

Questions about this design
Which mattress?
Two high-density foam cushions: a fixed 1900 × 740 one and a 1900 × 460 one that folds over the first by day. The moving part sits 30 mm lower; with 80 to 100 mm of foam you don't feel it.
What if my van isn't a Sprinter?
Cut sheet 2U, which has no wheel-arch cut-out, plus sheet 1, which is common. If your wheel arch hits the back panel, measure its length, height and where it starts and write to us: the design is parametric and we generate sheet 2 for your model.
Why no telescopic slides?
They jam with sand, cost money and need aligning. Here the moving slats run through closed slots in two plywood rails: the rail itself guides and holds them. A little candle wax on the slats and it glides.
